At Shepardson Family Funeral Homes, we are committed to providing affordable funeral and cremation services to the Greater Syracuse Area. Our family-owned and operated funeral homes have been serving our community for over 75 years, offering a more reasonable option than many local funeral homes. We believe in returning to traditional values, beliefs, and cultural practices that are often compromised when traditional funerals cost too much.
Our History
The Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson has been a funeral home in the Eastwood Community since the late 1930's. Originally started as the Goddard & Crandall funeral home by Bernard Crandall and Theodore Goddard, both residents of Eastwood, the funeral home was established in a 2-family house on James Street next to the Blessed Sacrament Church. The original building has been modified to be handicapped accessible. Thomas Shepardson purchased the business in 1978 from Theodore Goddard and established the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, Inc.

Funeral Home Experience: A Tale of Two Reviews
Disappointing Service
The first review, rated 1 star, expresses disappointment and frustration with the funeral home's services. The author, Suzanne Borowicz, shares her negative experience with GCS, citing subpar work in preparing her mother's body for the funeral. Specifically, she was unhappy with the makeup, hair styling, and lack of attention to detail, stating that her mother looked deceased and not well-presented.
Outstanding Service
In stark contrast, the second review, rated 5 stars, is extremely positive. Lauren Biloski praises GCS for their exceptional service, citing their attention to detail, compassion, and understanding. She commends their professionalism, stating that they honored her grandfather's legacy with grace and perfection.
Common Themes
While the two reviews are vastly different in tone and content, they both highlight the importance of attention to detail and compassion in funeral services. The reviews suggest that families should provide specific instructions to ensure their expectations are met, and that a funeral home's professionalism and empathy can greatly impact the grieving process.
