FOKUS on Architecture, Inc. was founded by Eckhard K. Fennig, AIA/RAS in 2004. Mr. Fennig draws upon extensive experience of practicing Architecture with firms in Chicago, Illinois, and El Paso, Texas since 1979, to provide his firm with a solid base of architectural knowledge and expertise. This experience includes Municipal, Healthcare, Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, Educational, Restaurants/Food Service, Hotels, Gaming Facilities, and Multi-Family Housing Design.
Our Services
FOKUS on Architecture, Inc. provides clients with a full range of architectural design and construction-related services for projects of small to medium scope such as Site and Building Design, Space Planning, Interior Design, Project Management, Construction Documents, Specification Writing, Product Research, Construction Administration, Fast Track Construction, Feasibility Studies, Budget Establishment, Code Analysis, and ADA Review and Consulting and Research and Analysis on facilities in Code Compliance Feasibility and Life Safety.
Our Approach
We emphasize and promote active communication with the Owner and User groups, and encourages their full participation in the project from preliminary design to final completion. The exchange of information by frequent meetings, the preparation of written reports and documentation of decisions, and actions taken on time-sensitive issues, is crucial to the successful completion of a construction project.

The majority of our projects are from repeat clients whom we serve on their everyday needs and requirements to ensure successful operations of their facilities and the people they serve. FOKUS on Architecture, Inc.'s comprehensive services are readily available to building owners, private businesses, public institutions, contractors, medical facilities, and property developers. We understand each construction project is unique, and every Owner has the right to expect an excellence of design which is respectful of the budget, facilitates the intended purpose of the building, and is a source of pride and enjoyment in the future. Our Staff
Meet the dedicated staff here at FOKUS. Eckhard Fennig AIA, RAS, APA Eckhard Fennig commenced his career in Architecture in Chicago, Illinois in 1979. Relocating to El Paso, Texas in 1990, he continued his professional growth by working primarily in the capacity of Lead Designer or Project Manager on a wide diversity of architectural projects. In 2004, Eckhard Fennig established "Fokus on Architecture", founding the firm on a solid base of knowledge of design, project management, construction administration, familiarity with Local, State and National Building Codes, ADA and Texas Department of State Health Services requirements.
Our project experience includes new construction, additions, and remodeling, and the renovation of existing buildings. Our staff utilizes the latest versions of Autodesk software, including Revit and BIM applications as well as other 3D modeling applications for visualization and analyzing purposes. It is our stated goal to provide our services in a timely manner, within budget, and with a minimum of Change Orders. Previous experience on numerous local construction projects has enabled us to develop a familiarity and effective working relationship with our consulting engineers, contractors, and the sub trades.
Texas Accessibility Standards
In the State of Texas, a person may not perform a plan review or inspection function of the department unless the person is a Registered Accessibility Specialist (RAS). Since 2004 Eckhard K. Fennig, RAS No. 476 has provided TAS(ADA) plan reviews and construction inspections to local and statewide architects, building owners, managers, contractors, and public authorities, also numerous ADA related Assessment reports to municipalities, public and private facilities and churches. Since then, two additional staff members, Cesar Gallegos and Ruth Garcia, have also become Texas State Certified Registered Accessibility Specialist (RASs), which makes our firm the most qualified Accessibility Specialist group, with three out of six RASs in West Texas.
