Our Story
Founded in 2005 by Donald Smith, City Trees Furniture has its roots in the Seattle area's early settlers, who planted orchards and decorated their yards with walnut, elm, and other exotic trees. Thousands of trees are taken down in the urban area every year, and often chipped or turned into firewood. We saw an opportunity to make a difference by creating live-edge and slab furniture from the city's trees, uncovering the glorious beauty in the reclaimed wood. This approach combines our enthusiasm for salvaged resources, hands-on interaction with nature, wild beauty, and sustainability.
Our Process
We source our wood from salvaged trees in and around Seattle, carefully selecting each piece to ensure that it meets our high standards of quality and beauty. Our artisans then carefully craft each piece, using traditional techniques and modern methods to bring out the unique patterns, shapes, and imperfections that make our furniture truly unique. We use only a clear finish to showcase the natural color and textures of the wood, allowing the beauty of nature to shine through.
