Established in 1999, the Mad Hatter Restaurant & Tea House has been providing a unique dining experience for nearly two decades. Come enjoy our warm, inviting environment during Lunch, Tea Service, one of our many events, or for your own private party. Make a memory at the historic Woodbury House located on the Rum River.

Our Story

The Mad Hatter Tea Room began in 1999 in the Historic Anoka Post Office building as My Mom's Attic by best friends Liz Koch and Amy Bukkila, two single mothers who wanted to give women a beautiful place to take time for themselves. There was a special magic that happened from the day the doors opened, where customers became friends and regular guests. Two of their favorite guests were Linda and Andrea Pomeroy, a mother and daughter who loved to come sip tea after long days in the corporate world. After only a few short years Amy decided to move out of town and Liz was not able to continue on without her friend and business partner. It was with great sadness that they decided to sell their little gem. As luck would have it, Linda and Andrea always wanted to own a tea room and began their journey as the new owners in 2002. Linda and Andrea updated the name to 'The Mad Hatter', and the tea room continued to grow into a flourishing business and much-loved retreat from life's stresses.

The Mad Hatter Restaurant & Tea House offers a variety of services to make your dining experience unforgettable. Our Dine In menu offers delicious favorites that cater to all tastes and dietary needs. Our High Tea Service is a unique experience where you can enjoy a full tea service with friends and family. For special occasions, we offer Private Event Venue where you can host your own private party.

We also have upcoming Mad Hatter Events where you can enjoy themed parties and activities. Join us for our July Jamboree, Summer Lawn Party, and many more exciting events.

The Mad Hatter Market

We are excited to announce the opening of The Mad Hatter Market in the near future. Our new Market will be located in our beautiful Library and will offer beverages, scones, pastries, deli salads, gourmet picnic lunches & baskets, home cooked meals to go, TV dinners and made to order noshibles for you to enjoy during your visit with us, along with merchandise and memorabilia. You will be able to order at the counter, or grab a table and order through our new QR code Market Menu.

The Woodbury House

The Mad Hatter Restaurant & Tea House is located in the historic Woodbury House. The Woodbury House has a rich history dating back to the early 19th century and has been beautifully restored to maintain its original charm. The house is situated on the banks of the Rum River, providing a serene and peaceful atmosphere for our guests.
