McCormick Architects is a full-service architecture studio dedicated to innovative and appropriate design solutions for New Mexico. We work closely with clients to develop projects that meet their specific needs. Our focus is on defining a contemporary regional aesthetic for Santa Fe and beyond. Led by Steve McCormick, a seasoned architect with a unique blend of theoretical and hands-on design education, our team brings a wealth of experience to every project. From custom residential designs to small commercial projects, we strive to create buildings that are both progressive and practical.

Steve's journey began in Southern California, where he grew up working on construction projects. He continued his architectural education while working as a carpenter, receiving a Masters in Architecture from UNM in 1997. This combination of practical and theoretical knowledge has given him a distinct perspective in designing buildings that are both aesthetically pleasing and constructible. His experience includes working on design-build firms in San Francisco and Santa Fe, where he performed roles as designer and builder on numerous custom homes. Each project is a thoughtful response to client and site, leveraging his knowledge of construction and detailing to produce uncomplicated designs.

McCormick Architects was established in Santa Fe, NM, in January 2007. Steve lives and teaches part-time at the Community College, while also leading a contemporary bluegrass band called Alto Street. This multifaceted approach to creativity and community engagement reflects our commitment to innovative design and a deep connection to the region we serve. Whether it's a mid-century makeover, a custom storage facility, or a net-zero house, we approach each project with a passion for creating spaces that are both beautiful and functional.
