"Following the Gleam" - Create Lifelong Memories with Us!
Our History and Mission
Camp Dixie, a traditional summer camp for boys and girls, was founded in 1914 by A.A. Jameson in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Northeast Georgia. For over 100 years, generations of families have enjoyed the traditions and shared the memories of their summers at Camp Dixie. Our rich history and limited enrollment are what set us apart from other camps. Limiting our enrollment to around 70 campers, ages 6 to 15, allows us to emphasize the "family" atmosphere that we feel is so important.
Our Services
At Camp Dixie, we offer a unique blend of activities and programs that cater to the diverse interests of our campers. Our activities include sports, arts, waterfront activities, and environmental programs, designed to help campers develop new skills, build confidence, and make lifelong friends. Our experienced and dedicated staff are committed to providing a safe, supportive, and fun-filled environment that allows campers to thrive and grow.
What Sets Us Apart
We take pride in our small size, which allows us to provide personalized attention to each camper. We believe that the true essence of camping lies in the beauty of nature and the relationships formed between campers and staff. That's why we focus on building a strong sense of community, rather than relying on elaborate facilities or high-tech gadgets. Our rustic setting, with original cabins still in use, adds to the charm and character of our camp.
Our Values
As a Christian summer camp, we are deeply committed to character development and strive to instill values such as kindness, respect, and responsibility in our campers. Our goal is to help each camper become the best version of themselves, and we believe that the camp experience is an essential part of this journey.
A Legacy of Memories
For generations, Camp Dixie has been a place where children have grown, learned, and thrived. Our camp has survived wars, depressions, and natural disasters, and has remained a beloved institution in the hearts of our alumni. As we close this chapter of our history, we take comfort in the knowledge that the memories and traditions of Camp Dixie will live on in the hearts of our campers, staff, and families.
