Our Philosophy

We are inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, which emphasizes the child as a capable and active participant in their own learning. Our teachers serve as partners and guides in the learning process, observing, documenting, and facilitating children's discoveries. Our classroom environments are rich and inviting, filled with natural light, open spaces, and materials that encourage creativity and exploration.

Our Program

We offer a variety of programs for children ages 2.5 to 5 years old. Our curriculum is designed to meet the needs, interests, and abilities of each child, and we offer a range of experiences and activities that promote social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development.

Some of the services we offer include:

• A developmentally appropriate curriculum that is aligned with the District of Columbia's Early Learning Standards
• A low teacher-to-student ratio that allows for individualized attention and support
• A comprehensive assessment system that monitors children's progress and informs instruction
• Opportunities for parent involvement and engagement, including family events, parent-teacher conferences, and volunteering

Our History

St. John's Episcopal Preschool has been serving the Washington, D.C. community for over 50 years. We are proud of our history and our commitment to providing high-quality early education and care. We are a ministry of St. John's Episcopal Church, located in the historic Georgetown neighborhood.
