First Steps Preschool

As a Christian preschool based at First United Methodist Church in Brighton, Michigan, we are dedicated to providing a high-quality educational experience for children from two to four years old. Our half-day classes are designed to foster a love of learning, social skills, and a sense of community. Our experienced and passionate staff create a nurturing environment that encourages growth, exploration, and fun.

Our Philosophy

At First Steps Preschool, we believe that early childhood education is essential for future success. We believe that children learn best through play, exploration, and creativity. Our program is designed to provide a space for children to develop at their own pace, with responsive teaching and parental involvement. We also believe in the power of parental involvement and encourage all families to become involved in their child's education.

Our History

First Steps Preschool began as First Presbyterian Preschool in January 1989 as a community outreach ministry to serve members and non-members alike. In 2008, the preschool moved to First United Methodist Church - Brighton and became known as First Steps Preschool. Our directors, Lisa Guise and Jennifer Lapa, have over 30 years of combined experience in early childhood education.

Our Classes

We offer half-day classes for two-, three-, and four-year-olds, as well as special events and field trips throughout the year. Our daily activities are designed to promote social skills, confidence, kindness, and intellectual growth. Our experienced staff provide individual attention and support to foster a love of learning and school.
