At Distinctive Video Engineering, we pride ourselves on being a husband-and-wife owned company that is dedicated to providing high-quality television system consulting, design, and construction services to our clients. With over thirty years of experience in the industry, we have had the privilege of working on a wide range of projects, from simple analog to High Definition digital systems.

Our team, led by Dwight Crumb, Systems Design Engineer, and Janet Crumb, Project Manager/Installation Lead, brings together a wealth of knowledge and expertise to ensure that each system is tailored to meet the unique needs and budgets of our clients. We understand that every project is unique, and we take the time to customize our approach to meet the specific requirements of each client.

Our Experience

Over the years, we have had the privilege of working on a variety of projects, including control rooms for large-screen displays in sporting venues like the Nationwide Area, STAPLES Center, Dodger Stadium, and Santa Anita Race Track, editing systems for Southern California Edison and Boeing, full television network affiliate stations like KITV, KHON, WLWT, WALA, HRTV, and KPSP, and numerous universities and churches.

We are not primarily in equipment sales, but we do supply limited equipment to our clients when it benefits their projects. Our focus is on providing exceptional service and ensuring that our clients receive the best possible solutions for their television systems. Our lower overhead allows us to pass considerable savings on to our clients, making us an attractive option for those looking for a cost-effective solution.

Our Expertise

Both Dwight and Janet have extensive experience in the television system industry. Dwight has worked as a production engineer, editor, audio mixer, TD, and video controller, giving him a deep understanding of the technical requirements of a television system. Janet, with nearly thirty years of installation experience, has developed high standards and innovative wiring techniques that continue to evolve. Her experience as Senior Project Manager for Digital System Technology has given her a broad range of skills, including systems design.

Our Videography Capabilities

In addition to our television system consulting, design, and construction services, we also offer videography services. Dwight and Janet have two HD underwater packages with Sony HDR CX760V and PJ760V cameras, two Sony HDR-FX1 HDV cameras, one of which can go underwater in a Gates housing, a Sony HVR-A1U in an underwater housing, and a GoPro. Their underwater videos, which they write, shoot, produce, and edit, have won top awards in international competitions. These cameras have also been used to document ministries such as Casa de Dios and Mexico Medical Missions, Samaritan Aviation, Worldwide Christian Scuba Divers Organization's Trip to Cozumel, and others.

Manufacturer Representation

Although equipment sales is not a primary focus of our business, we do represent certain products from manufacturers like Black Magic Design, Marshall Electronics, Bittree, Omneon, Cobalt Digital, Snell, Evertz, Radio Design Labs, High Tech Furnishings, and RTS Telex.
