At Joseph Farrell Architecture, we are a team of dedicated professionals passionate about creating artful, energy-efficient, and environmentally sensitive homes that integrate natural light, air, views, landscape, and community. Our architectural design firm, founded in 1995, serves the San Francisco Bay Area, and our office is located in Novato, California.

Our Story

Our principal, Joseph Farrell, has always been fascinated by design and construction. Growing up in the East Bay Area, Joe was exposed to the construction industry from an early age. He went on to study architecture at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and obtained his Bachelor of Architecture in 1990. After working for several architectural firms, Joe started Joseph Farrell Architecture in 1995, with a focus on creating collaborative and communicative relationships with clients. Over the years, our firm has grown to include a team of experienced professionals who share Joe's passion for sustainable design and exceptional customer service.

Our Team

Our team is led by Joseph Farrell, a licensed architect with over 25 years of experience. Joe is a native Californian who has always been drawn to design and construction. He is a firm believer that a successful project demands a strong relationship between the owner, design consultant, and builder. Our team also includes Caryn Kloor, a job captain with over 20 years of experience in managing residential projects, and Steve Carter, a project architect with a background in retail and hospitality projects.

Our Services

We offer a range of services, including programming, construction documents, as-built drawings, construction administration, and architectural design. From the initial brainstorming phase to the final construction phase, we work closely with our clients to understand their needs and goals, and to create bespoke solutions that meet their unique requirements. Our services include:

• Programming: We assist clients in evaluating project goals and requirements, exploring different possibilities, and obtaining necessary pictures, magazine articles, and written descriptions.
• Construction Documents: We provide detailed construction drawings and documents that are submitted for building permits and to the contractor for bidding/construction.
• As-built Drawings: We create accurate architectural drawings of existing homes for addition/remodel projects, and assist in obtaining topographic surveys of parcels.
• Construction Administration: We provide continued services to assist clients through the construction process, including construction observations, material submittal evaluation, shop-drawing review, and green building measure observations.
• Architectural Design: We provide schematic design, design development, and design review services to create bespoke solutions that meet our clients' unique needs and goals.
