Our Story

Minnehaha Funeral Home's journey began in 1929 with a vision to offer compassionate and affordable funeral services to families in Minnehaha County. Founded by M.B. Smemoe, the funeral home began as the Minnehaha County Burial Association, fueled by Smemoe's concern over the financial burdens associated with traditional funerals. With the help of E.A. Berven, the association secured a charter and began serving the community from its initial location in Baltic.

Our Staff

Nohava, a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner and Certified Cremation Practitioner, our experienced and dedicated staff is committed to providing personalized and professional guidance throughout your journey. Our Locations

To better serve you, we operate out of four chapels conveniently located across Minnehaha County: Baltic, Colton, Dell Rapids, and Garretson. Our comfortable and welcoming spaces offer a setting where you can find peace and tranquility during a difficult time.
