Accommodations and Amenities
The Emerson Inn in Rockport, Massachusetts offers a queen oceanside room that is tiny, with a small bathroom and limited space outside the bed. The room is clean, with comfortable beds and good air conditioning. However, there is no fridge, microwave, or elevator in the building. The shower has excellent water pressure, but the toilet flush is weak. The room also lacks beach or water access.
Services and Staff
The staff at the inn are friendly and welcoming, offering to help with luggage. However, there were issues with requesting additional towels, as they did not arrive promptly. The inn has a pool that overlooks the ocean, but it is small and has limited seating. There is no room service or maid service during the day.
Location and Dining
The inn is located a 40-minute walk from Bearskin Neck, the main tourist area in Rockport, and requires driving to access. There are limited food delivery options, and none after 10 pm. The on-site bar and restaurant have expensive drinks and average food. The risotto was tasteless and overpriced.
Miscellaneous Issues
There were some issues during the stay, including a mosquito in the room, a staff member walking in on the guests while they were sleeping, and a confusing message about switching rooms. The inn does not have a "do not disturb" sign or earplugs, which can be a problem for light sleepers.
Value for Money
Overall, the guest felt that the $400-per-night price tag was not worth the accommodations and services provided. They compared it unfavorably to a stay at the W South Beach, which offered more amenities and a better location for a similar price.
