Ashley Mastro, also a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in Illinois, shares a commitment to creating a world where everyone, regardless of their background, feels empowered to embrace their authentic selves. She holds a deep belief that societal norms often lead to harmful internalizations of "bad" thoughts and feelings, contributing to a sense of "otherness" for those who don't conform. Ashley acknowledges the pervasiveness of systemic stereotypes and injustices and how these can impact our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Actively promoting social justice and equitable access to mental health care, Ashley values a collaborative approach with her clients, ensuring they feel safe and open during therapeutic sessions. She takes an active role in therapy, providing guidance and gently pointing out when thoughts, behaviors, or feelings might be hindering a client's quest for a fulfilling life.
