Jugtown Pottery is a working pottery and an American Craft Shop located in a grove of trees and bamboo eight miles south of Seagrove, in Moore County, NC. It is just off Busbee Road, a road named for Jacques and Juliana Busbee, the founders of Jugtown. Both artists with a love of craft and form, together they created Jugtown Pottery, melding forms from ancient traditions with those developed in North Carolina. The pottery offers a variety of functional and decorative pieces, including jugs, pitchers, candlesticks, tablewares, vases, bowls, and jars in a range of glazes. The potters at Jugtown are inspired by world clay traditions and the pottery's aesthetic foundation is laid out by the Busbee's. The pottery is run by Vernon Owens, recipient of the NC Folk Heritage Award and the NEA National Heritage Fellowship, his wife Pam, son Travis, and daughter Bayle, with Bobby Owens mixing clay and glazes for the pieces.
The reviews praise the beautiful pottery, welcoming atmosphere, and rich history of Jugtown Pottery, with many calling it a "must-visit" destination.
There are a few reviewers who mention that the location might be a bit out of the way, but the overall experience, including the pottery and history, makes it worthwhile.
