At West Edmonds Co-op Preschool, we believe that a love of learning is a gift that lasts a lifetime. Our co-op preschool is designed to provide a warm and supportive environment for both children and parents. We offer a unique and engaging learning experience that fosters the social, emotional, and academic development of our young students.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide a supportive, learning-rich environment for both children and parents through hands-on participation. We believe that children learn best through play, and our program is founded on the fundamental value that play-based learning is essential for a child's development. Our goal is to provide our students with the social and academic skills needed for a successful transition to primary education, while also providing our parents with opportunities for childhood development education and a strong peer-support network.

Our Teachers

Our teachers are experienced and dedicated professionals who understand the importance of providing a nurturing and engaging environment for our students. Our teachers are passionate about their work and are committed to providing a high-quality learning experience for our children.

• Sheri Hay, 2's Teacher, has over 20 years of experience working in the FLED program and co-op classrooms. She believes that the learning-through-play model of cooperative preschools is wonderful for two-year-olds, as it allows them to build skills such as sharing, taking turns, and compassion.
• Nellie Preston, 3's & Pre-K Teacher, is a WECP alumni who went through our school with her child and served on the Board. Now, with children in grade school, she returns as our 3's teacher. Nellie's favorite play-based quote is, "For children, play is serious learning. Play really is the work of childhood." - Mr. Fred Rogers.

Our Board is composed of dedicated parents and educators who share our mission and values. Our Board members work tirelessly to ensure that our school runs smoothly and that our students receive the best possible education.

Affiliation

We are affiliated with the Family Life Education program at Edmonds College, a renowned institution in the field of early childhood education. This affiliation allows us to benefit from the expertise and resources of the college, while also partnering with local educators and community members to provide the best possible education for our students.
