Our Philosophy

The term "green building" has been used for various purposes that have little to do with sustainability. However, we were early adopters of sustainable design and were one of the first to be certified as Green Building Professionals through Build It Green. Bill Wolpert's architectural education at Cal Poly focused primarily on passive solar design, which is now making a comeback in the mainstream. Starting with proper orientation and sun control, buildings with a well-insulated "shell" are far more comfortable before mechanical systems are required and less expensive to operate.

Our purpose is to conserve energy and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve natural resources and minimize waste, create healthy indoor environments, and minimize toxic construction materials. We especially want the result to be durable and beautiful, fitting seamlessly into the environment. A construction project is a serious undertaking, whether it's an addition, a rehabilitation, or a new home. Communication is the key to a successful project, and we strive to be collaborative. We listen to your ideas and help you prioritize them. We help you determine an appropriate budget. With over 30 years of architectural experience, we have valuable insights to share.
