Who We Are

Williamstown Community Preschool (WCP) is a non-profit organization that has been serving the needs of children and families since 1972. Our mission is to provide a safe, caring, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for toddler, preschool, and school-age children, from 15 months to 12 years old. We are committed to fostering a sense of self-worth and cooperative social skills in children, while promoting an understanding of the world and the people around them.

Our Philosophy

At WCP, we believe that children learn best through hands-on, child-centered, and child-directed activities. Our dedicated staff works to create opportunities for children to experience, explore, and gain an understanding of the world around them. We promote a sense of self-worth and respect for children's feelings, skills, choices, similarities, and differences. We also believe in working closely with families to meet the unique needs of their children.

Our Programs

WCP offers a range of programs for children at different stages of their development. Our toddler programs provide a nurturing environment for children aged 15 months to 2 years, with a teacher-to-student ratio of no more than 1:3. Our preschool programs are designed for children aged 2 years to 4 years, 6 months, with a teacher-to-student ratio of no more than 1:6. Our school-age program is for children in kindergarten through second grade, and is run at the Williamstown Youth Center. We also offer a summer program for children entering grades 1 through 3.

Our Literacy Program

WCP uses the Fundations Pre-K Literacy Program, a comprehensive literacy curriculum that supports children's emerging understanding of the alphabetic principles, letter-sound associations, and written language skills. The program incorporates multi-sensory instruction and motor memory learning, and offers ample opportunities for practice and feedback.

Our Credentials

WCP is licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), and all of our staff are certified in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) as a requirement of EEC. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality in our programs.

Supporting the Preschool

WCP has thrived for 50 years thanks to the support of our community. We welcome donations to support our programs and ensure that we can continue to provide high-quality early education and care to children and families in Williamstown.
