About Our Services
At Mindful Pathways Counseling, we offer a variety of services designed to cater to the diverse needs of individuals, couples, and families. Our approach is centered on mindfulness, the ability to non-judgmentally observe your experience. By using mindfulness and mind-body awareness, we help our clients uncover old patterns and beliefs that are no longer serving them and cultivate positive ways of being and interacting in the world.
Our services include:
- Cultivating Self-Acceptance and Empowerment: This service is designed for individuals experiencing anxiety and low self-esteem. Through a guided mindfulness body-centered process, we help our clients connect with their inner strength and ability to be empowered in their lives.
- Supporting Intimacy and Fulfilling Relationships: For couples experiencing persistent conflict or lack of intimacy, we use mindfulness practices and Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples to help them recognize and shift destructive patterns and find a sense of security and connection.
- Navigating Challenging Life Transitions: This service is for individuals going through difficult life transitions such as adjusting to a new culture, divorce, job loss, childbirth, the teenage years, or children leaving home. We help our clients connect with their inner strength and purpose during these challenging times.
- Living Well With Chronic Illness and Pain: For those experiencing fear, depression, or grief related to chronic illness or pain, we provide a safe and caring space and a restorative process that allows them to grieve their losses and find hope and healing.
- Sustaining Activism for Social Change: This service is for individuals called to work for social justice but find it hard to sustain their activism. Drawing on our background as an activist and the practice of mindful self-compassion, we support our clients in grounding into their values, clarifying their commitments, defining their boundaries, and cultivating mindfulness and inner peace.
Our Therapist's Journey
Barbara Segal has traveled down many pathways in her life. Some have involved dance and other body-centered forms of expression and self-discovery. Others have focused on supporting diverse people in finding their voice and becoming more empowered. With several years of experience in community organizing and development in Mexico and Central America and in Washington DC, Barbara has sought to influence international policies to be more just and equitable. She has also worked at the University of Portland with international students as an advisor, mentor, and educator and at Providence Health & Services administering educational programs and providing training for health care professionals.
