Our Story

Our founder, Melissa Rota, a software engineer turned fitness enthusiast, opened our first studio in Honolulu in 2015. Born and raised in Honolulu, Melissa was inspired by the boutique fitness scene in NYC and wanted to bring a similar concept to her hometown. With a background in gymnastics, swimming, and running, Melissa created Sweat + Soul, a fitness studio that combines elements of barre, physical therapy, and kinesiology to create a safe and effective workout.

Our signature class, The Original Sweat + Soul Barre Workout, is a 50-minute immersive mix of light cardio, strength training, and stretching that will give you a complete workout. We also offer Cardio, HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), and Barre X classes, each designed to challenge your body and boost your mental wellbeing.
