Sunshine Nursery School

Sunshine Nursery School is a renowned preschool and childcare center located in the heart of Arlington, Massachusetts. Established over 65 years ago, we are proud to continue our founders' legacy of creating a warm, nurturing, and loving community for children aged 2 years 6 months to five years old. Our experienced staff and dedicated teachers are committed to fostering a love of learning in every child, and our play-based curriculum focuses on the social and emotional development that will prepare them for a successful transition to elementary school.

Our Curriculum

At Sunshine Nursery School, we believe that play is an integral part of a child's development. Our play-based curriculum is designed to promote social and emotional growth, build self-esteem, and develop a love of learning. We provide a variety of activities that are both fun and educational, allowing children to learn through exploration and discovery. Our experienced teachers guide and support children as they engage in these activities, fostering their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Experienced Teachers

Many of our teachers have been at Sunshine for more than twenty years and started as parents bringing their children to school. They found themselves reluctant to leave this warm, nurturing community, which is a testament to the strong bonds they formed with the children, families, and staff. Our teachers are highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated, providing a stable and supportive environment that fosters growth and development.

Enrichment Programs

Sunshine Nursery School has a long tradition of enriching the classroom activities with outstanding extracurricular offerings. Our enrichment programs include Yoga, Physical Education, Nature, Creative Movement, Drama, and more. These programs are designed to complement our play-based curriculum and provide children with opportunities to explore their interests, discover new passions, and enhance their learning.

Summer Fun

The school year might be over, but the fun has just begun. Sunshine Nursery School offers 8 weeks of summer camp for young children. Our experienced, qualified teachers provide a summer to remember, filled with fun and educational activities that promote social and emotional growth, build self-esteem, and develop a love of learning.

Enrollment for 2024-25

We have a few spots available for children who will be two and a half by September 2024. Please visit our enrollment page to learn about our application process and reach out to schedule a tour. Our SNS Director, Jenn Eisenheim, will gladly show you the school, answer all of your questions, and provide an application when you visit.

Half Day Program with Flexible Extended Day Options

Sunshine Nursery School offers a lot of flexibility for our families, with morning drop off as early as 7:45, and Stay & Play available daily until 4:00. While our preschool classes are based on a half-day model, our extended day program is an add-on that families can sign up for on a regular or occasional/"as needed" basis. Either way, we bill by attendance so families only pay for the extended-day services you use.

Our licensed childcare center began as the only semi-cooperative preschool in Arlington, and we continue to recognize the importance of family involvement.
