The American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers is a professional organization that supports and promotes the interests of its member societies in the fields of mining, metallurgy, and petroleum engineering. The organization provides a range of services to its members, including conferences, scholarships, and awards. Through its member societies, AIME is able to connect its members with resources, knowledge, and network opportunities that help them advance their careers and contribute to the development of the industry. AIME's four member societies are the Association for Iron and Steel Technology, the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration, the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and the Minerals, Metals, and Materials Society. The organization is one of the five Founder Societies of engineering in the United States, along with AIChE, ASCE, ASME, and IEEE.
