Our Story
Moxy was founded by Chef/Owner Matt Louis, a James Beard Award-nominated chef and restaurateur with a passion for creating memorable dining experiences. Matt's culinary journey began at the renowned French Laundry, where he trained under the guidance of Thomas Keller. After honing his skills in some of the top kitchens in the country, Matt returned to his hometown of Portsmouth to open Moxy, joining forces with restaurateur Jim McSharry. Together, they have created a culinary destination that celebrates the best of New England's local farmstand, fish market, and cultural heritage.
