Learn, Explore & Have Fun at Wilder!

Wilder Memorial Nursery School has been a cornerstone of the Hingham community since 1924, proudly serving generations of families. We are dedicated to providing a nurturing and engaging environment where children can blossom, learn, and grow. As the oldest cooperative preschool in the United States and the first to teach three-year-olds, Wilder boasts a rich history of educational innovation and a legacy built on love, learning, and lasting connections.

A Teaching Philosophy Rooted in Tradition

Our philosophy revolves around a deep understanding of how children learn best. We embrace play-based learning, recognizing its immense power in fostering creativity, problem-solving skills, and social-emotional development. Our experienced and dedicated teachers act as guides and facilitators, encouraging exploration, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

We believe in celebrating each child's individuality and fostering a sense of belonging within our welcoming community. We strive to create a classroom environment where children feel safe, supported, and empowered to take risks, ask questions, and discover their own unique talents.

Programs Designed for Early Childhood Development

Wilder offers a comprehensive range of programs tailored to meet the needs of children from ages three to five. Our preschool program provides a strong foundation in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development through a variety of enriching activities, both indoors and outdoors. Our pre-kindergarten program builds upon this foundation, incorporating more academic challenges and preparing students for a successful transition to kindergarten.

Each program includes a carefully curated curriculum that integrates arts, crafts, music, dramatic play, and large and small motor skills development. We believe that a holistic approach to early childhood education is crucial in nurturing well-rounded and confident individuals.

Our Cooperative Experience

Wilder is not just a school, it's a community. Our cooperative model means that parents are active participants in their child's education. Parents contribute time and talent throughout the year, supporting classroom activities, planning events, and maintaining the school grounds. This shared responsibility creates a strong sense of ownership and partnership, fostering a truly collaborative learning experience for both children and families.

A Legacy of Love and Learning

At Wilder Nursery School, we are deeply passionate about providing a high-quality early childhood education that prepares children for success in all aspects of their lives. Our experienced teachers, dedicated parents, and welcoming environment create a unique and nurturing space where children can thrive, learn, and grow into confident, compassionate, and curious members of our community.
