At Reform Your Body Pilates, we are dedicated to helping you achieve the best balanced body you can. Our studio in Berkeley offers a range of services including Pilates, personal training, and physical therapy. Our History

Pilates was developed by Joseph H. Pilates, who suffered from asthma, rickets, and rheumatic fever as a young boy. He studied anatomy and developed his body through exercise regimens of both the East and West. During World War I, Joseph developed the Pilates Method in internment camps, adding resistance equipment to his repertoire. After the war, he moved to New York, where he met and married Clara and opened a "Contrology" studio. Pilates gained popularity through the dance community and eventually among the stars, leading to its widespread recognition today.

Meet Our Owner

Sornam Joanna Sahadevan is our owner and a certified Pilates Instructor with 18 years of experience in the fitness industry. She is certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE), Body Arts and Science International (BASI), and the Pilates Method Alliance. Sornam has traveled the world to learn from various teachers and incorporates the newest research into her Pilates-based methodology, ensuring that each client receives a tailored exercise program.
